List 18: Road Trip Must-Haves featuring CaL

Hello there,

I'm CaL from Boardwalk To Eden & I am so excited to share my list for today with you since I am, in fact, on a road trip this very minute. Heading up to San Francisco to see blog friends, of course!

When Kam asked me to participate in the 30 Days of Lists challenge I was so jazzed. Listing things just so happens to be my strong point when it comes to writing, designing, creating, decision making. Pretty much anything I can make a list for, I will.

Because my writing is sloppy & small, here's what's on that list:

1. favorite v-neck.
2. shorts.
3. favorite hoodie.
4. TOMS.
5. duffel bag.
6. water.
7. chex mix.
8. carmex.
9. iPhone.
10. sunglasses.
11. camera.
12. destination.
13. FUN.

Basically, comfort is key when you plan to be on the road for an extended period of time. Take, for example, my trip today where I'll be on the road for about 8 hours. Water & snacks are important because stopping along the way is a pain. Carmex is always good in case you want to let the wind hit you in your face without getting cracked up lips. Sunglasses are a must for any glaring highway. My camera is my baby, it's a G11 & will be documenting my trip. & because I am sort of weird with numbers & such, I made a number 13 - have fun! Don't let the long hours on the road get you down. Embrace the serene beauty of the open road! Play some music & smile!

Happy list-making bambinos!

List 17: Words That are Hard to Spell.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
I have always wanted to visit Chicago on St. Patty's day, and of course, Ireland. I am Irish, but I never really celebrate.
Is anyone doing anything super fun?

Well, about our 17th list.. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT'S ALREADY THE 17th LIST! We are almost done :(

This was an easy/fun list to do, and it gets you thinking about all those words you might hate, like me!

Do you have any of the same words as me? Don't make fun of my words! :)

*There's over 1200 photos on in the flickr pool! (I am awful at uploading my photos, it is my goal to spend 2 hours on flickr this weekend)

List 16: Places to See in Your Town with Mal of Sunday Morning Sugar

Kam here with today's list prompt. I personally love visiting new cities/towns. I spend lots of time online asking people for places to visit, researching hikes, and scouting out hole-in-the-wall gems that may otherwise not be mentioned in main travel books/websites. I also believe that every town has something special to offer and a story to share.

Prompt 16: Places to See in Your Town

Today, we have Mal of Sunday Morning Sugar with us to share her list for today's prompt!

 Hello hello!

When Justine first announced this project on her blog, I was thrilled.  I am an avid list-maker and I really don’t have enough time to participate with all of the art journaling projects.  List-making on the other hand, I’m a champ.

I live in Chicago and I think that I live in the best place around (except in the winter!) so there are really a lot of things to do in this town.  Here’s my list…

In case you can’t read the writing, it says:

-The Bean
-Willis Tower
-John Hancock Building
-Water Tower
-Millennium Park
-Navy Pier
-Buckingham Fountain
-Aquarium
-Art Institute
-Museum of Science and Industry
-Museum of Natural History
-Wrigley Field
-Tribune Tower
-Zoo

What is there to see in your town?  I listed a lot of the tourist hot spots but my real favorite thing to do in Chicago is eat.

I can’t wait to see your lists :).  Thanks so much for having me.

Xoxo
Mal

List 15: On My Shopping List

For today's list prompt: Take a look at what you've been meaning to purchase

What is on your shopping list?

I tend to always have a few shopping lists going ..... Grocery store and/or Costco, Target for cleaning supplies and/or house stuff, birthday gifts, craft supplies for specific projects, etc etc etc ...

Since I generally go grocery shopping on Tuesday or Wednesday, here's a peek at what I'll be getting for food for the week:

30lists 005

As I mentioned when showing y'all my book of lists, I'm using a 7x9" 3 ring binder, with the half-page minimal theme from the 30 Days of Lists pdf downloads.

Image is an iPhone photo from a previous week's shopping.

Text reads:
vegetables - always always tomato, cucumber and bell pepper; cheese - always; fruit - what's on sale; possibly chicken or steak - depending on what Andrew is in the mood for; coffee and coffeemate creamer; ice cream?

Although, I'm not really sure why I wrote the question mark after ice cream ... I ALWAYS want to buy ice cream. :)

Please head on over to the 30 Days of Lists Flickr group to see what other participants' have come up with and add your own list!

List 13: DIYs I Want to Try Featuring Holly Knitlightly

While Sunday is normally a day where Amy, Justine, and I share our lists for the day, today we have a special guest! I would like to introduce you to Holly of Holly Knitlightly! She is one of our lovely sponsors, and when we asked her to be a part of this project, she immediately jumped on board :)

Hey everyone! I'm Holly from Holly Knitlightly & first of all I just want to say, how awesome are Kam, Amy & Justine for putting together this blog? What an awesome idea!

I have been loving all of the lists you guys have been making. You guys are so creative and have been giving me a lot of ideas! I can't wait to see your lists for today, for DIYs you want to try! I have a feeling I'll be adding quite a few ideas to my list! I have a ton of ideas of new things I want to try, I even go out & buy supplies (or sign up for online courses), but then I go back to knitting and just shove everything in a corner. I want that to change though, and hopefully putting it down on a list will give me that shove in the right direction to start some of these! Who knows, they could become my new passion!

Here is what my list says:

  • Sewing (skirts, bags, pillows)

  • Candle making

  • Soap making

  • Embroidery

  • Bookbinding

  • Scrapbooking/Journaling (travel journals)

That is just a SMALL portion of the many things I want to try! I can't wait to find out what things you guys want to make!

** Note for our international friends**
DIY stands for 'Do It Yourself'
This prompt is about listing the craft projects or home-remodeling or other do-it-yourself projects you want to remember to try.

30 Days of Lists Playlist

How are your lists coming along? I am having a great time working on these prompts, I feel really accomplished even though I'm maybe listing 5-6 things for each prompt. I feel like I can look back on my mini-album in a few months and get a pretty good idea of what was going on in my life during these 30 days.

I wanted to share some songs I've been playing while working on these prompts, answering e-mails, scheduling blog posts...you know, the usual ;)

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

Go ahead and hit play, get up and stretch a bit before working on today's prompt. Maybe catch up on a few from last week? I'm going to catch up on posting photos to our flickr group. Have you been posting your photos to it? I'd love to see them :)

xo, Kam

List 12: Weekly Rituals

Do you do something each week? Specific TV shows you watch, a special dinner on a certain night, or a class you take early in the morning? Let's hear about them!

List 12: Weekly Rituals

At least, those are my goals each week. I can tell you this much...I eat lunch out of the office each Friday, that one won't be messed with ;) I work next to a mall and across the street from some awesome eateries so it is hard to resist spending my lunch hour out of the office!

What are your weekly rituals?

List 11: Date Night Ideas

For today's list, start brainstorming some DATE NIGHT Ideas!!

It is Friday, after all...... :)

We do NOT mean only romantic dates (although, that is what I listed below) - Think also about best friend dates, parent-child dates, or by-yourself dates ...

Be creative!

My list happens to be Los Angeles-centric:

30lists 004

As I mentioned when showing y'all my book of lists, I'm using a 7x9" 3 ring binder, with the half-page minimal theme from the 30 Days of Lists pdf downloads.

The IMAGE is from one of our date nights .... On a late Sunday afternoon, my husband and I picked up a pizza to go, grabbed a roll of paper towels and drove out to Malibu for dinner on the beach. There was almost no one there that close to sunset .... It was so peaceful and amazing!

Text reads:
pizza on the beach at sunset, record shopping at a thrift store, coffee and the Getty museum, Annenberg photography center, walk around the neighborhood, cook dinner and Netflix, morning hike followed by Menchies

Your Take on List #9

Here are some of your favorite sites!

I made it through 180 of your Flickr uploads this morning, I am loving all the comments left by others and hope you check back on your photos for those little love notes!

Also, please remember to post the 30 Days of Lists button on your blog, after this challenge is over, it will be a great ice-breaker for all of us if we know where we've 'met' before :)

Lastly, I love reading the tweets you are posting on Twitter! Be sure to use the hashtag #30Lists so we can see it show up in our search bars! You may get a response you weren't expecting/some loving RTs!

Love, Kam

List 9: Favorite Websites/Blogs

Today's list focuses on where we spend a fair amount of our time while on the internet! I think many (if not all!) of us can think of a handful of fun blogs/websites/social media sites we enjoy ;)

List 9: Favorite Websites/Blogs

Here's my list for the day :) The paper is itty bitty--about the size of my hand--so I had to make this list count! I mentioned in a few comments left on the Flickr group that my writing is ginormous, so squeezing these words onto this sheet of paper was a challenge in-and-of-itself. I also wanted to photograph my list this way so you can see the backsides of my previous lists :D I love little surprises like that.

For those not familiar with Reserve America, it is an amazing website I use to make reservations for my camping trips, and it gives you a good idea of what to expect at each campground. I love using it! Also, Yelp! is a user-based review website for stores/restaurants/places of business. Like Foursquare, this site lets you check-in, earn badges, and become the duke/duchess of places you frequent. love, love, love.

What are your favorite websites/blogs?

Speaking of websites/blogs, you can read about Amy, Justine, and me and our lives outside 30 Days of Lists on each of our blogs, respectively. Also, be sure to leave a link to your website/blog in the thread labeled Introductions on the Flickr group, so others can find you :)

pdf download clarification

For those of you who have purchased and downloaded the pdf templates for 30 Days of Lists....

I've discovered that this might not be clear in the download instructions.

The FULL PAGE templates are in the order the prompts will be posted on the blog.

The HALF and QUARTER page templates are in order to print back-to-front and make a little book if you so desire.

Try watching one or the other of the tutorial videos for visual clarification.

And, as always, email me with further questions!

Thanks!

List 8: In My Bag featuring Moorea Seal

Good morning! We are so excited to introduce one of our gifted sponsors to guest post today!

For today's list, take a look at what you carry around every day - What is in your bag?

If you don't have a purse, maybe your backpack or camera bag or computer bag? If no bag, what do you keep in your pockets? What else do you need to have with you at a moment's notice?

Today Moorea Seal is going to show us what is in HER bag!

Hi there everyone! I'm Moorea from moorea-seal.com. Today I'm going to give you a little tour of "What's in my bag Backpack!" As much as I love purses, I have a lot of heavy things that I carry around everyday and I prefer the balance and support that my body gets from using a backpack rather than a purse. Plus, I'm 24 and I figure I can still get away with toting around a backpack for a few more years :)

These are all of the essentials for my backpack. Since I work from home at least 12 hours a day, I can go a little stir crazy being held up inside of my tiny apartment. So my backpack and I usually visit a coffeeshop once every 1-2 days just to keep the work day spicy and fresh. It's helpful that my boyfriend is a barista too. :)

So here's my list of everything in my backpack:

1. Pens, Pencils, and Erasers. I'm a professional Illustrator and obsessive list maker so my bag of goodies is a necessity!

2. Cell Phone. I have a Droid. It works well but I still dream about having an iphone instead :)

3. Wallet. I don't really like the color red, but I figured, hey, if I get a red wallet, I'll never lose it because it's the only red thing I'll own and it's bright color will make it easy to find. (I'm really forgetful.)

4. My little notebook. This is where I keep ideas for blog designs (I'm a blog designer for Freckled Nest). I'm usually toting around this notebook or one of two others that help keep my mind sane juggling lots of jobs.

5. Chapsticks. Despite the constant rain in Seattle, the air sucks all the moisture out of ya. Chapstick options are a must.

6. Daily Planner. I love this planner by Moleskin. My everyday lists are usually huge and this manages to hold big lists in a perfectly sized small planner. It's also red so I can find it when I lose it, heehee.

7. Keys. My boyfriend got me a pretty little wooden key chain that has a secret storage compartment. I love it, but have yet to figure out what secret small things to stash inside.

8. Dried Cranberries. I'm always craving sweets. These help with my sweets lust.

9. Tiger's Milk Protein Bar. Once again, always craving chocolate, so at least with this I get a little protein too. :)

10. Little Earphones. These are a must for coffeeshop hopping. Some coffeeshops play the loudest, worst music ever.

11. Drawing Pad. I'm an illustrator! I draw most everything by hand.

12. Macbook. Ah, one day I'll have enough money for a Macbook Pro upgrade. One day...

13. Custom Laptop Case. Isn't it so pretty! I took that photo myself of a friend, and a laptop case company had it printed on the case. I can't remember the company's name though... shoot.

So there you have it! That's everything I need day to day in my backpack. What are some essential staples in your purse of backpack? I'd love to see some photos!
